Which hike should you do around Saint-Papoul?
After the visit, the Panoramas and Heritage loop is a good way to extend the day on foot, in keeping with the spirit of the place. You move naturally from heritage to landscape, without changing pace.
The route crosses a lived-in, easy-to-read countryside, with open views over the Lauragais plain, the Montagne Noire and, on a clear day, the Pyrenees. It also passes through the Notre-Dame de Bassens area, which is worth the detour for its atmosphere and views.
This is not a spectacular hike in the mountain sense of the word, and that is precisely part of its charm.
